About the history of Chicago. A little bit...

Indian tribes lived in today’s Chicago territory for a long time. Throughout the centuries the region witnessed wars and disputes between the natives and the European immigrants. Only in the late 18th century, a well-known agreement was reached: under this agreement the tribes granted the territory of the US including Chicago to the conquerors.

In the mid-19th century, Chicago was granted city status. The rapid growth of the city's economy led to the construction of the water canal, which was built due to the heavy labor of immigrants from different countries, mainly from Ireland. After a terrible fire in the late 19th century caused by climatic conditions, the city was almost burned to ashes. But this fire was a reason for a grand reconstruction and restoration of the city, which was built in a completely new manner.
