I am a professional, licensed tour guide and I am local from Bratislava. I live here all my life. I was born in Bratislava and I grew up here so I remember how the city has change within last 20 years. In the early 90\'s the city center looked grey, miserable and dirty. Nowadays many houses have been renovated and painted colorful and most communist statues have been replaced. The city is much nicer now. Tiny lanes in the Old Town offer an ideal atmosphere for romantic walks to those who love to follow signs of history in the midst of the modern world. The pace of this little city is relaxed and unhurried.

You can easily make a day trip to Bratislava from Vienna as Bratislava is situated only about 60 km/40 miles from the Austrian capital Vienna. Both cities stretch along the banks of the Danube River, a boat cruise between the two taking only 90 minutes.
