Venice is a fish (as you can clearly see from an aereal shot), swimming in the middle of a big lagoon.
First stop of the tour: the well known Island of Murano, where the glass blowing dates back to the X century. Whilst watching one of the glass masters blowing the glass in the furnace, a person of the staff will explain to you the history and the process of the glass making throughout the years. After this you will be invited to visit their elegant show room, with beautiful and original pieces on display, which is really worth a visit.
We will then reach the colourful Island of Burano, famous for its brightly coloured houses, the fishing industry and the lace making: we will have time to walk around this elegant little island and also to visit its shops; I will point out one of the specialized shops where it is possible to see one of the local old ladies working on the Burano lace: she will show you the different stitches involved in making these wonderful works of art.
We’ll then leave the Island of Burano and take a short boat ride to the Island of Torcello, “where all began”; it is here that the “future Venetians” first settled, to escape from the Barbarian conquering the mainland. If weather permits, we suggest a nice walk behind the church to enjoy the breeze and the sight of the lagoon.
