Aksum is home to ancient wonders and mysteries, considered as the genesis of ancient Ethiopia's civilization where magnificent human knowledge had been manifested. Flourished in the most part of 1st C AD (After Chirst) following the collapse of Yeha, the capital of Damat state. It lasted for atleast 1000 years as the capital of the Aksumite kingdom and epicenter of its civilization. During the Aksumite period, Ethiopia reached to its zenith in social, politics, economy, religion, commerce, architecture and military establishements. It was by that time an outstanding civilization which still today existed as a living witness achieved. These are like:

-Erection of stela which are cut from a living rocks.

-Minting of coins from gold, silver and bronze.

-Beginning of Ox-drawn Agricultural to support the local economy

-Introduction of languages such as Greek, Sabian and Ge'ez.

-Adoption of Christianity in the 4C and Islam in the 6C respectively. However due to internal and external encounters Aksum started to decline in the beginning of 8th and replaced by the Zagwey dynasty from which king Lalibella ruled after. For travelers who have no enough time to stay in Ethiopia, we organize short trips to Axum and its surroundings.

ITINERARY

Day 1-Addis Ababa-Axum

Fly to Axum with the morning flight and meet with the guide waiting for you at Axum int'l airport. After check in hotel and short break, go for a city tour of Axum that covers:

the stele park, tomb of king Kaleb and Gebre Meskel, the church of St. Mary of Zion where Ethiopians' believe that the original Ark of the covenant is deposited, Palace of Queen Sheba and many other ancient treasures. O/n hotel

Day 2-Axum-Addis Ababa

Take breakfast then transfer to airport for your flight to Addis Ababa. Based on your time, go around in Addis Ababa and do your personal activities or have city tour and visit National museum of Ethiopia, Trinity Cathedral, Markato, the biggest open air market in Africa, mount Entoto and more. Finally drop you off your hotel or Bole int'l airport. End of our service.
