About
Bale mountains NP-:is the largest Afro-Alpine habitat in Africa with total surface area of 2500kmsq enjoyung an average elevation of b/n 1500-4377masl at Tulu Dimto. It was founded un the 1960s after the endemic mountain Nyala and Ethiopian wolfs were traced/discovered, detected.
-the park has 4 vegetational zones with d/t fuanal and floral distribution. Such as:
-NEn lowland- is characterised by grass and Bush land vegetation where the maximum wild animals including mountain Nyala, Meniliks bush back, grey diker and red backs are living.
-NWn highlands- is mainly characterized by mountain escarpments where woodland vegetation, such as juniperous procera, albeza, hyginia abissinica and etc are growing.
-Central Plaetoue- is noted for Afro alpine habitat where the Sanate Plaetoue and Tulu Dimtu peak are located. It is home to the endemic Ethiopian Wolf and giant mole rat, the common food for wolfs are living.
-Harena forest- this is a vegetation with big tress and shurbs located south of the park and is hime to the endemic Bale monkeys and rarely seen black mane lions.
Generally Bale mountains NP is home to 64 species of mammals and about 270 species of birds, of which 3 large mamals, duch as,:
-Mountain Nyala
-Menilik's bush back
-Ethiopian Wolfs and giants mole rats.
Itinerary
Day 1- Addis Ababa
Arrive Addis Ababa and meet your guide with the car at Bole int'l airport then transfer to hotel. Balance of the day, take a city tour and visit:- Marcato, Trinity Cathedral, St.George Church, Mount Entoto and etc. O/n hotel
Day 2- Addis Ababa-Langano
The driver picks you up at Bole international airport then heading to Lake Langano situated in the Ethiopian rift valkey system. On the way, visit Melka-Kunture archeological site, Tiya cemetry field and Abijata-Shalla lakes NP. O/n
Day 3- Langano to Dinsho.
In early morning, walk around the shore of lake Langano and enjoy with the natural environment then after breakfast, drive to Dinsho where the HQ of Bale mountains NP is located. On arrival, game walking around the park office and visit Mountain Nyala, Menilik's Bushbuck, Grey Duiker and several species of birds. Then in the afternoon, more hiking around geyssay valley and see mainly Waterbacks, Olive Baboons and Mountain Nyalas. O/n hotel/tent
Day 4- Dinsho- Sof Omor(105km/way)- Dinsho
Early breakfat then drive to Sof Omor natural cave with your lunch box. Late after noon, back to Dinsho. O/n tent/hotel
Day 5- Dinsho- Sanate plateau-Harena forest-Dinsho
Today you drive to the Sanate plateaue where the 2nd higest peak Tulu Dimtu (4377) is standing. Visit for the endangered Ethiopian wolfs and other aquatic bird species. More drive to Harena forest then late afternoon, back to hotel using the same way you used in the morning. O/n tent/hotel
Day 6- Goba- Addis Ababa
After breakfast drive back to Addis Ababa with lunch stop in Assela or Adama/Nazareth. Late afernoon, arrive and end of the service.
