This is a day trip to Debre Libanos monastery founded in the 14th C by Ethiopian holy man named St. Tekle Hayimanot. The monastery is belongs to Ethiopian Orthodox church and is the main pilgrimage site in the country. Besides the Monastry and its well equiped museum, clients can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jema river gorge, the endemic Gelada baboons and the 16th c Portuguese bridge built on a small river to connect Addis Ababa with the other side of the nearby regions.
ITINERARY
We pick you up at any place you are located in and around Addis Ababa like: at your hotel, guest house etc or Bole int'l airport then driving through the Northern direction that connects Addis Ababa to the major historical route. On arrival, we start visiting the church and the museum equipped with ancient religious manuscripts and different kinds of church ecclesiastical objects.Then proceed to Jema river valley to see the beautiful scenery of the surrounding, the endemic Gelada Baboons and 16th C Portuguese bridge. After lunch at the beautifu viewpoint, back to Addis Ababa on the same road we had in the morning, finally have tea or coffee at Tomoca coffee house then drop you at any place you desire to be.
