Ivica Skriljevecki – local private tour Guide in Zadar, Croatia
Zadar, Croatia
Hrvatski (native), English, French
47
since 2006
I offer walking tours (some thematic and some in costume) of my hometown Zadar, but Nin, Pag, Biograd, Sibenik and Split as well. I provide hiking, walking and cycling tours as well, from National Park Plitvice Lakes to National Park Krka waterfalls, including Velebit, Paklenica, Vransko parks, river Zrmanja and islands.
I am a Master of Tourism :)) From Tourism and Hospitality Highschool to Culture in Zagreb to Toursim Masters Level degree at University of Zadar, you migh say I am thoroughly bred tourism professional. And tourism IS my profession for past 25 years. About 15+ year of reception work at a youth hostel overlap with first 10+ years of guiding. Over the years a have lined up licences for 5 of Croatian counties to round upt all most interesting sites of my area.
I like history so I do historical sites – both aancient and modern (don't forget Croatia was in a war during my teenage years). I like inovation so I do interperetations through living history wearing different histrical costumes and bringing different historical charachters to life. I like being active so I will take on bike and hike tours as well. Zadar city offers range of possibilities but 4 national paks and 3 nature parks within 2 h reach are plenty of inspiration for a lifetiime of exploration. Different interest have led to certificate in heritage interpretation by Interpret Europe and an outdoor activities certificate by local authorities.
My parents come from different corners of Croatia, so I am raised in the capital city Zagreb but living in Zadar almost 30 years now. Expereinces of different size Croatian cities and regines, as well as small villages origins, made me love and appreciate differences of cultures and traditions, notably when food and drinks are at play ;) Different dialects spoken in our houshold might be the base for my language skills; I am certified to guide, beside my native Croatian language, in my near perfect English and so-so fluent French, but I can get by with basic Italian, German, and even few words of Korean, where as my Chinese still requires a lot of work and practice.
If there something of the beaten path you would like to experince? No problems, I am all for it. If I cannot get you there on my own, I have a network of friens collected over past 20 years that can get you into caves, depths of the sea or to the mountain peaks.
