Founder of the primary Angolan tour operator established for more than 23 years.
Paul Wesson, a British national, studied Business at Southampton, then latterly an MBA with the Open University in 1995. Interests include, wildlife conservation, 4x4 overlanding, motor sport (including competing in motorcycle trials and rallies) and sailing.
He arrived in Luanda, Angola in 1981, to assist in managing the Land Rover importer and distributor. Paul was then offered a job as Automotive Director for the distributor (União), despite the fact that Angola was in fact at war finding an immediate empathy with Angola and its people, beauty and potential, Paul had no hesitation in accepting. The distributorship was sold in 2001 and after “handing over” for a year, Paul was offered the position of Commercial Director within one of the largest and most diverse Angolan companies (JEMBAS - activities including hotels, automotive, agriculture, telecoms, power generation and construction among others).
In 2004 with a similarly minded Angolan friend (Mario Pinto, who sadly and unexpectedly passed way in 2012), Paul set up Eco Tur Angola. The company is highly customer focussed and undertakes activities ranging from leisure tours throughout the spectacularly beautiful Angola, including safaris, conservation related activities, nationwide tours and city tours. Eco Tur is registered with the Ministry of Tourism in Angola and in addition to leisure tourism also undertakes a lot of corporate work such as hotel bookings, car hire and airport transfers as well as a whole range of bespoke activities such as corporate events (e.g. team building, conferences), media support (customers include BBC, Nat Geog, Vice.com and Endemol), “shorex” for cruise ships (e.g. National Geographic, Lindblad Explorer and GA Adventures) , logistical support for diverse companies etc.
Paul has over 40 years of Angolan experience and a small but dedicated and flexible team ready to accommodate differing customers’ needs in this challenging market.
