Our unforgettable day begins in the early morning with a scenic drive from Yerevan to the Ararat Plain, where, weather permitting, the majestic Mount Ararat will greet us with its iconic silhouette. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy stunning panoramic views and take photographs of Armenia’s most famous natural landmark.
Khor Virap Monastery
Our first stop is the historic Khor Virap Monastery, located in the heart of the Ararat Plain. Known for its deep spiritual significance and breathtaking views of Mount Ararat, this monastery tells the story of Saint Gregory the Illuminator and Armenia’s adoption of Christianity in 301 AD.
Areni Village & Off-Road Adventure
We continue south to the charming village of Areni, renowned for producing Armenia’s famous Areni wine. Here, you will experience a small but unforgettable adventure: a scenic off-road drive through the Gnishik Gorge, offering incredible views of the red cliffs, the canyon, and surrounding landscapes.
Areni 1 Cave
Next, we visit the Areni 1 Cave, an extraordinary archaeological site where a 6,000-year-old winery, the world’s oldest leather shoe, and other remarkable discoveries were unearthed. You will learn about Armenia’s ancient wine-making traditions and the region’s rich history.
Noravank Monastery
Our journey continues to the Noravank Monastery, a 13th–14th century architectural masterpiece built by the Orbelian princely family. Nestled in a dramatic red-rock canyon, Noravank offers both spiritual inspiration and breathtaking scenery.
Lunch & Local Wine Tasting
We enjoy a traditional Armenian lunch at a local guesthouse, hosted by a welcoming family. You will taste authentic homemade dishes and local wine, experiencing the warmth, hospitality, and culture of rural Armenia.
