My names is Moses,Professional safari guide at Kiliclimb Africa Safaris. I lead authentic Tanzania wildlife safaris with deep local knowledge, a strong focus on safety, and genuine hospitality. My goal is to help travelers experience the landscapes, wildlife, and culture of Tanzania in a meaningful way.
My journey to becoming a professional safari and expedition leader in Tanzania has been shaped by perseverance, hard work, and a deep passion for the wilderness. I grew up in a small village in a large family of eleven children, and I was the only one who had the opportunity to attend college. Supporting both my education and my family was not easy, so I took on many different jobs along the way—from bartending to street work—before eventually finding my path in the travel and guiding industry.
I began my career on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru as a porter. The work was physically demanding and the conditions were often challenging, but it taught me resilience and determination. Through dedication and years of learning, I progressed from porter to trainee assistant guide, then assistant guide, and eventually lead guide. Over time, I have had the privilege of guiding more than 1,500 travelers through Tanzania’s landscapes, helping many reach the summits of Kilimanjaro (295 successful summits) and Mount Meru (over 30 summits). Alongside mountain expeditions, I have also led numerous wildlife safaris across Tanzania, sharing my knowledge of the country’s wildlife, ecosystems, and cultures with travelers from around the world.
During my years working in the industry, I observed that many large travel companies—often based outside Tanzania—were significantly increasing the prices of safaris and climbs while taking large commissions. In many cases, the people selling these trips had little or no firsthand experience of the destinations they were promoting. This often created a gap between travelers’ expectations and their real experiences on the ground, while also making Tanzanian adventures unnecessarily expensive.
Motivated to change this, my partner Naite and I founded Kiliclimb Africa Safaris in 2017. Our vision was to build a company that is 100% locally owned and operated, where the people who design and lead the adventures are the same people who know Tanzania’s landscapes, wildlife, and cultures firsthand. Through Kiliclimb Africa Safaris, we focus on providing authentic, professionally guided safaris and expeditions at fair and transparent prices, while ensuring that tourism directly benefits local communities.
In addition to my guiding experience, I hold a postgraduate degree in Tourism, Travel, and Wildlife Management. I am certified as a Wilderness First Aid Responder through the Sentinel Outdoor Institute and as a Basic First Aid Instructor through First Aid Africa. I have also completed rifle training for walking safaris, an important safety qualification for guiding in the African bush.
Today, my greatest passion is sharing the beauty of Tanzania with travelers from around the world—leading safaris through its remarkable national parks, guiding mountain expeditions, and helping people connect with the wildlife, landscapes, and cultures that make this country truly unique.
